Ingredients
  

  • Cream Cheese: 18 ounces softened (2 and 1/4 eight-ounce packages)
  • Brown Sugar: 6 tablespoons scant 1/2 cup
  • Homemade Caramel Sauce: 1.5 cups about 12 ounces; recipe below
  • Butterscotch Chips: 3/4 cup
Homemade Caramel Sauce
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 cup heavy cream warmed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 flaky sea salt optional

Instructions
 

  1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan; heat over medium until dissolved and amber-colored (5–8 minutes).
  2. Remove from heat. Whisk in butter, then warm cream (mixture will bubble).
  3. Add vanilla extract and salt. Let cool to room temperature.
Assembly
  1. Mix softened cream cheese with brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Blend in 1.5 cups cooled caramel sauce.
  3. Stir in butterscotch chips.
  4. Chill and serve with apple slices.
